This month, we will be exploring Systemic Family Constellations in relationship to our creative practice with experienced facilitator Katie Despres.
This will be a unique opportunity to delve into more philosophical and personal questions about the place of art within the wider context of the world. And lets also enjoy everything a Greek summer has to offer, your host Leah Heming will guide you to secluded beaches and mountain locations. |
CREATIVE CONSTELLATIONSThe island is bustling in July, yet in the Water & Rock art residency house, we are secluded and blessed with peace and quiet. This will be the perfect setting to explore our personal and collective creativity within the context of our larger systems with Systemic Family Constellation Facilitator Katie Despres.
An average summer day will include an early stroll, a morning of art, an afternoon nap and an early evening sea swim and very often a social event or local celebration. HIGHLIGHTS🌿3 day intensive Creative Systemic Family Constellation workshop w/ Katie Despres

THE WORKSHOP w/ KATIE DESPRES
3 day intensive workshop during WEEK 2 of your residency.
Constellating Creativity: Belonging, Place & the Systems We Create From
Three days of Family & Systemic Constellations, embodied exploration and creative enquiry in the landscape of Thassos.
Day 1 - Belonging: the systems we come from
An introduction to systemic thinking through embodied group exercises and creative mapping.
We explore the systems we belong to and the different places we occupy within them: family, ancestry, culture, community and place.
Day 2 - Constellating Creativity
Bringing the systemic lens directly to creative practice.
Rather than treating creativity as something belonging solely to an individual, we explore it as something existing in relationship.
Through group exercises and small constellations we might explore relationships between:
Me and my creative practice.
Me and what wants to be created.
Creativity and visibility.
Creator and audience.
What supports the work and what interrupts it.
The individual and the wider system.
The natural environment can become part of the constellation: trees, paths, stones, boundaries, direction, distance and landscape can hold representative places alongside people.Residents can then respond through their own creative medium: writing, drawing, photography, movement, sound, making or simply observation.
Underlying question: What becomes visible when I experience my creativity as part of a larger system?
Day 3 - From individual to collective
We follow what has emerged through the first two days and move into deeper constellation work with members of the community.
The three days finish with integration and a return to whatever has been created individually and collectively.
Underlying question: What wants to move, change or be carried forward?
Optional: Individual Constellation
Alongside the group program, residents could have the option of booking a private 1:1 Family & Systemic Constellation with Katie during her stay on Thassos.
This would be separate from the three-day residency programme and particularly useful for someone who wants to explore something more personal or private than they want to bring into the resident group.

Day 1 - Belonging: the systems we come from
An introduction to systemic thinking through embodied group exercises and creative mapping.
We explore the systems we belong to and the different places we occupy within them: family, ancestry, culture, community and place.
- embodied exercises around belonging, place, distance and relationship
- creating a visual/systemic map rather than simply a conventional family tree
- noticing what has been inherited, carried or passed on
- working with objects and materials found in the landscape
- beginning a shared altar / installation that develops over the three days
- exploring our relationship to the place we have arrived in

YOUR FACILITATOR - KATIE DEPRESKatie Despres is a Family & Systemic Constellations facilitator and senior yoga teacher based in Bristol, UK.
Her work explores the often unseen relationships between individuals and the wider systems we belong to: family, ancestry, culture, community and place. She is particularly interested in interdependence and in extending systemic work beyond human relationships to include our relationship with land, animals and the natural world. Katie trained with the Centre for Systemic Constellations in the UK and has undertaken advanced training in Family & Systemic Constellations and intimate relationship systems. She has also trained with African Constellations in South Africa and is currently undertaking a 22-month training in Equine Facilitated Systemic Constellations. Alongside her constellation practice, Katie has taught yoga for more than a decade. Her background in embodied practice strongly informs the way she facilitates, bringing attention to what we experience through the body as well as what we understand intellectually. Katie works with individuals, couples and groups and facilitates workshops, ongoing constellation circles and experiential programmes in Bristol, online, at festivals and as part of wider training programmes. JULY
|
July is usually the hottest month with temperature averaging around 36 degrees Celsius, sometimes with a heat wave.
This month we adopt the Mediterranean rhythm, with early mornings for physical activity, lunchtime naps and afternoons either at the beach or in the cool studio, followed by late evenings of eating and socialising. Bring light summer clothes, swim wear and a sun hat. July is so much fun and we love being in summer clothes from morning until night! |
